Palazzo Vertemate Franchi is a fascinating and prestigious 16th century Villa located in Valchiavenna.
The facade is sober and essential, surrounded by airy and functional spaces, such as the Italian garden with the fishpond and the double exedra balustrade. Then there are the orchard, the vineyard, the chestnut grove, the vegetable garden and a series of rustic buildings essential for the conduct of agricultural activities that take place on the estate such as the press and the icebox. The walls and vaulted ceilings are richly frescoed and large mythological scenes are represented, particularly inspired by Ovid's metamorphoses. Stüe and inlaid ceilings are certainly the wonders of the building.

Villa Balbianello in Lenno is easily recognizable from Lake Como for its elegance: located on top of a terraced garden in which gorgeous paths embrace the visitors alternating statues with wisteria and large plane trees pruned "Candelabro". Residence and museum of Guido Monzino, a Milanese explorer of the 1950s whose conquest of Everest and the expedition to the South Pole are remembered.
