Ottavio was born in a little Sicilian village nearly 80 years ago and was the inspiration behind Montana Lodge & Spa and the Le Jardin des Alpes residential development. At the age of 25 he moved to Asia where he spent the next 40 years of his life building an incredible legacy. Upon his return to Italy, Ottavio went in search of a location in the Alps to build a hospitality business, and found it right here, in the shadow of Mont Blanc. Unfortunately Ottavio did not live to see the opening of Montana Lodge & Spa which was completed by his children who put all their love for him into every detail Ottavio, as a perfectionist, would have been proud of.

Montana Lodge & Spa brings together the best of contemporary design and innovative materials, all within the shell of a traditional Aosta Valley exterior.

Studio del Portico creativity gave Montana Lodge & Spa a warm and nature centric ambience: in the rooms, tree themed wallpaper, a wavy tree trunk parquet and decorative ornamental deer heads create a sensation of being in an alpine forest. In the common areas, the use of wood, stone and steel bring out a cool coziness.

Our food, just like the hotel, is authentic, wholesome and unpretentious with a regional flavour.

Our chef Alessandro Gioe will share his many culinary secrets, let you discover the unknown dishes and ingredients from the local uncontaminated environment. Fresh organic eggs, local honeys and jams to start your day. Expect the generous use of alpine herbs, berries and flowers sprinkled on your dishes together with a variety of organic olive oils from the rest of Italy.

Respect for the nature that surrounds us is of utmost importance to our values. Montana Lodge & Spa proudly operates a high efficiency Wisemann biomass heating system and electricity saving infrastructure. Solar panels to provide a supply of hot sanitary water when the sun is shining and water saving technology and LED lights help us to further reduce our already small ecological footprint.
